Rango is a 2011 American computer-animated Western comedy film directed by Gore Verbinski and produced by Nickelodeon Movies and Verbinski's production company Blind Wink. The film features the voice talents of Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Alfred Molina, Bill Nighy, Harry Dean Stanton, Ray Winstone, Timothy Olyphant, and Ned Beatty.
The story follows a chameleon named Rango, who is accidentally stranded in the Mojave Desert after his terrarium falls out of his owner's car. Rango eventually makes his way to the town of Dirt, which is facing a severe water shortage. Rango, who has always dreamed of being a hero, decides to take on the role of sheriff and help the town find water.
The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $245 million worldwide. It won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and the BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film. The film's visual style, which was heavily influenced by classic Western films, received particular praise from critics.
It's been a while since I last watched an animated movie, but Rango did not disappoint. It's a feel-good movie that can work as a little distraction if you need it. The storyline is straightforward: an accidental hero tries to become a real hero, and by chance and luck, he actually becomes one.
I found the movie's visuals and art style to be stunning, and it's clear that the creators were heavily influenced by classic Western films. The voice acting is excellent, and the characters are all unique and memorable. One thing that struck me about the film is its similarity to Mad Max: Fury Road, as both movies are set in a desert and fight for survival. However, Rango's more lighthearted tone and comedic elements make it a more enjoyable watch for younger audiences.
Overall, I highly recommend Rango to anyone looking for a good animated movie to enjoy. It's a well-crafted film with a heartwarming story, memorable characters, and stunning visuals that will keep you entertained from start to finish.
I would rate this movie a 7 out of 10.
