"500 Days of Summer" is a romantic comedy-drama film directed by Marc Webb, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel. The film was released on July 17, 2009 and follows the nonlinear story of a young man named Tom (Gordon-Levitt) and his relationship with a woman named Summer (Deschanel).
Tom, a hopeless romantic, falls deeply in love with Summer, who is more of a free spirit and not interested in a serious relationship. Despite their different views on love, the two embark on a romantic journey that is full of ups and downs. Throughout the 500 days that the film spans, Tom struggles to come to terms with the fact that his idealized vision of Summer may not be who she truly is.
The film is known for its non-linear storytelling, jumping back and forth between different points in Tom and Summer's relationship, and for its use of artistic and creative elements to tell the story. It received critical acclaim for its unique approach to the romantic comedy genre and for the performances of its lead actors.
Yeah, I kind of liked "500 Days of Summer" more than I expected. Watching the movie made me feel like love is both something worth pursuing, but also something that's best left alone. It's really hard to see someone you love move on with their life without you, but the way the movie ended gave me hope that after a long summer, a beautiful autumn can still emerge. And they placed the name of the character perfectly. The movie's tagline, "This is not a love story, this is a story about love," accurately summarizes its theme. The film explores the different facets of love, including the attraction to someone's physical attributes, such as their eyes, smile, and voice, and the intense emotions that come with falling in love. I can definitely guarantee that Summer's eyes, smile, and voice will make you fall in love with her, just like it happened to me.
I highly recommend "500 Days of Summer" to anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of love and relationships. It's a beautifully crafted film that captures both the joys and heartaches of being in love, and it may even inspire you to rethink your own definition of love.
It a 8 out of 10 from me.
