"John Wick" is a 2014 action thriller movie directed by Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, and written by Derek Kolstad. The movie was released on October 24, 2014. It stars Keanu Reeves as the titular character, a retired hitman seeking revenge against the Russian gangsters who killed his beloved dog and stole his car.

After the death of his wife, John Wick retires from his career as a hitman and lives a peaceful life with his new puppy. But when a group of Russian gangsters break into his house, beat him up, kill his dog and steal his car, Wick goes on a bloody rampage to get revenge.

The movie received critical acclaim for its stylish action sequences, cinematography, and performances, particularly Reeves' portrayal of the character. It has since spawned several sequels, with the latest installment being "John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum" released in 2019.

As a viewer, I was highly impressed by the acting and direction in "John Wick." Keanu Reeves delivered a powerful and emotionally charged performance, while the supporting cast added depth to the movie's world. Director Chad Stahelski created a visually striking and immersive world, with impressive action scenes and attention to detail in the world-building. Overall, the acting and direction in "John Wick" were top-notch, making it a standout entry in the action genre.

What I appreciated most about the story was how the story was able to establish the character of John Wick and his motivations without relying on exposition or flashbacks. The world-building was also well done, with small details like the gold coins and the Continental hotel adding to the intrigue of the movie's underworld. Overall, the story of "John Wick" was well-crafted and satisfying, and it kept me engaged from start to finish.

An 8 out of 10 from me.
