"John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum" is an action-packed thriller directed by Chad Stahelski. The film was released on May 17, 2019, and stars Keanu Reeves as the iconic hitman, picking up immediately after the events of the second installment. John Wick is now excommunicado and on the run from the High Table, a secretive organization of assassins.
In "John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum," John Wick's journey takes him on a dangerous and action-packed path as he tries to evade his pursuers and clear his name. Along the way, he teams up with an old acquaintance named Sofia (Halle Berry), who helps him navigate the dangerous underworld of assassins. Together, they fight their way through a series of thrilling and violent encounters, facing off against skilled assassins and powerful criminal organizations. As John Wick gets closer to his goal, he discovers new allies and enemies, each with their own motivations and agendas. The film builds to an explosive finale that will leave audiences breathless and eagerly anticipating the next installment of the franchise.
In my opinion, the action scenes in "John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum" are flawless and there is nothing to complain about in that regard. However, the storyline seems to lack depth and mainly focuses on John's survival after being excommunicado. Nonetheless, I found the film inspiring as it demonstrates that redemption is possible even in the darkest of circumstances.
That being said, one potential criticism of the film is that it lacks originality and relies too heavily on genre conventions and formulaic action sequences. While the fight scenes are certainly impressive, they don't offer much in terms of innovation or creativity. Nevertheless, I think the movie is worth watching for its stunning visuals and thrilling action, as well as its message of hope and redemption.
A 7 out of 10 for John Wick Chapter 3.
